True Feelings

Image
Have you ever compressed your feelings into words and expressed them to whoever they were meant for? My guess is YES! We all have sent romantic letters, mails and text messages to our lovers. Though some of my readers might not actually have tried sending a real hand-written letter because everything has gone electronic. Hmmm, electronic love. That sounds like a good topic to write about. So back in my undergrad days, I had two lovebirds living right under my nose. They were such a lovely couple, they got me on my toes and reminded me everytime to get myself entangled in a love nest. The most interesting part of it is that I was appointed as the umpire/referee of their relationship, which means I had to blow the whistle each time one commited a foul. The 'husband' came to me when the 'wife' did something wrong and she did likewise. I had to advise, console, exhort. I loved my job description and I loved them both dearly. One of those confiding days, the ...

The Best I Ever Had

I'm here reminiscing on past events in my life. I remember everything. The good, the bad and the ugly. I remember every detail, every hug. Oh I loved it when you hugged me, with the fresh fragrance of your perfume filling up my nostrils and accentuating my mood. I loved the softness of your chest hardly pressed against mine. A lot of comfort drifted into my soul from those divine moments and even as I replay it in my head, pressing pause, rewind and play so that the images would flick back and forth, I can almost feel that softness on my chest. I told you you had the best smile on the planet, well, that was a fact. Before you came into my life and after you left, I mean years after, i'm yet to come across that smile. I know it when I see it.... so disarming and charming. Then the dimples in the centre of your chicks would make your face blend into a glow, like the morning bloom of a sunflower. That was my sunshine that you took away, leaving me to grope in the dimness of the ...

WHAT IF's

Image
Mind games, wanna play? Have you ever tried to picture or imagine what the world looked like before creation, or tried to imagine what the first man actually looked like? Our imaginations could really run wild sometimes and throw us into reverie. Your power of imagination tells the kind of person you are. It determines to a large extent the achievements you will record in your lifetime because everything we do first comes to us as a figment of imagination, a thought. Then when you add some sprinklings of belief and several doses of hardwork into it, you come up with aeroplanes like the Wright brothers did, the electric bulb like Thomas Edison did, the internet like Philip Emeagwali did and more spontaneous inventions. So I came up with a few things to put your imagination into full gear. Feel free to fill in with more. Enjoy..... (@TheSlimbloke) What if adam and eve never ate the apple.. What if money grew on trees.. What if we had a second chance to live.. What if ma...

PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

Image
"....black men as well as white men, would be guranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness ." - Martin Luther King Jr. Nothing makes sense to me right now. I'm up in the dead of the night unable to sleep, trying to figure out a direction. Any direction. Somewhere to call a destination and set out for. I'm looking for fulfilment of dreams, aspirations, imaginations. We all make up a lot of fantasies and its amazing how our happiness is hinged on the outcome of these fantasies. Some of them are born out of sheer insanity, some out of necessity and others out of nothingness. We all have a right to life. A life with limitless freedom to explore. A life where you are free to say and do as you wish, where we can act on all our impulses without fear of being told not to do so. * * * Happiness comes from fulfilment of dreams or expectations. We all have them. From becoming a graduate, to acquiring your dream ho...
