True Feelings

Image
Have you ever compressed your feelings into words and expressed them to whoever they were meant for? My guess is YES! We all have sent romantic letters, mails and text messages to our lovers. Though some of my readers might not actually have tried sending a real hand-written letter because everything has gone electronic. Hmmm, electronic love. That sounds like a good topic to write about. So back in my undergrad days, I had two lovebirds living right under my nose. They were such a lovely couple, they got me on my toes and reminded me everytime to get myself entangled in a love nest. The most interesting part of it is that I was appointed as the umpire/referee of their relationship, which means I had to blow the whistle each time one commited a foul. The 'husband' came to me when the 'wife' did something wrong and she did likewise. I had to advise, console, exhort. I loved my job description and I loved them both dearly. One of those confiding days, the ...

The Best I Ever Had

I'm here reminiscing on past events in my life. I remember everything. The good, the bad and the ugly. I remember every detail, every hug. Oh I loved it when you hugged me, with the fresh fragrance of your perfume filling up my nostrils and accentuating my mood. I loved the softness of your chest hardly pressed against mine. A lot of comfort drifted into my soul from those divine moments and even as I replay it in my head, pressing pause, rewind and play so that the images would flick back and forth, I can almost feel that softness on my chest. I told you you had the best smile on the planet, well, that was a fact. Before you came into my life and after you left, I mean years after, i'm yet to come across that smile. I know it when I see it.... so disarming and charming. Then the dimples in the centre of your chicks would make your face blend into a glow, like the morning bloom of a sunflower. That was my sunshine that you took away, leaving me to grope in the dimness of the ...

WHAT IF's

Image
Mind games, wanna play? Have you ever tried to picture or imagine what the world looked like before creation, or tried to imagine what the first man actually looked like? Our imaginations could really run wild sometimes and throw us into reverie. Your power of imagination tells the kind of person you are. It determines to a large extent the achievements you will record in your lifetime because everything we do first comes to us as a figment of imagination, a thought. Then when you add some sprinklings of belief and several doses of hardwork into it, you come up with aeroplanes like the Wright brothers did, the electric bulb like Thomas Edison did, the internet like Philip Emeagwali did and more spontaneous inventions. So I came up with a few things to put your imagination into full gear. Feel free to fill in with more. Enjoy..... (@TheSlimbloke) What if adam and eve never ate the apple.. What if money grew on trees.. What if we had a second chance to live.. What if ma...

PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

Image
"....black men as well as white men, would be guranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness ." - Martin Luther King Jr. Nothing makes sense to me right now. I'm up in the dead of the night unable to sleep, trying to figure out a direction. Any direction. Somewhere to call a destination and set out for. I'm looking for fulfilment of dreams, aspirations, imaginations. We all make up a lot of fantasies and its amazing how our happiness is hinged on the outcome of these fantasies. Some of them are born out of sheer insanity, some out of necessity and others out of nothingness. We all have a right to life. A life with limitless freedom to explore. A life where you are free to say and do as you wish, where we can act on all our impulses without fear of being told not to do so. * * * Happiness comes from fulfilment of dreams or expectations. We all have them. From becoming a graduate, to acquiring your dream ho...

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS

Image
Friends are such wonderful people you'd want to keep for a lifetime. They care for you, love you and pamper you with loads of affection. They might not give their life for yours, but would do everything they can to save yours. Too many friends can be too much trouble at times because you'd have to split your loyalty equally among them all and in the process of trying not to offend any, you end up upsetting all. Such a tedious task if you ask me. Everything should be done in moderation as the old advice goes. Yet that doesn't take away any credit from true friends. Let's consider another concept of friendship. Its the kind of package that many of us have either subscribed to or heard tales about. Friends with benefits is an agreement between a guy and a girl that looks like a real relationship but isn't. They both enjoy some certain 'benefits' that should ordinarily be found in a real relationship. Let me shed some light in there for you... There'...

MANAGEMENT LESSONS!!!!

Image
I figured you could use some few management tips so the moment I stumbled upon this, the first person I thought of was......YOU. All the credit goes to the internet as I didn't write this one (we all know i can write better, lol). So lets get right to it. ************************************************************************************ A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree...," sighed the turkey, "....but I haven't got the energy." Well, why don't you nibble on some ofmy droppings?" replied the bull. "They are packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branchof the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally, after a fortnight, there he was, proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot th turkey outnof the tr...

'BOYFIDENCE'

Image
One of the most incredible things that could happen to a young boy is 'a girl hitting on him', and you will agree with me on that. It swells his ego, gets his confidence muscled up and makes him feel on top of the world. ******************************************************************************************************* It was Wesley's first time of having such experience and it thrilled him beyond what words can tell. His life never remained the same after the event. He had just finished the last class of his first week in the university and joined the great multitude swarming towards the bus stop for a ride home. He was not feeling too good with himself because the last lecturer gave a pop-up test and he screwed up big time. He had been warned against such impromptu assessments but he figured it was too early for any lecturer to give a test. This particular one, a maths professor, was so mean he even told them it would be his greatest joy to see everyone fail. That st...

HEAVEN I NEED A HUG

Image
This is not the life you wished for or hoped to live, but hey, this is the real world. This one goes into the life of a typical young man and how he grapples with his newly assumed responsilbility; being a man! You know the drill, kindly leave your comments below. ******************************************************************************** I'm not the kid I used to be. I'm a grown man with beards now, the stakes are higher. As I aim for the highbrow I keep getting stuck in the mire, and reality is threatening to drown me. They give me so much nightmares that every night feels like halloween; mama says she's tired of working, papa says he needs to retire and my younger ones keep looking up to me like I'm the Eiffel Tower. All eyes are on me and me alone! I pick up the reins of my life and try to ride as fast as I can, to my destiny in far away la-la land. I strive so hard but they say it's not good enough. Even my girlfriend that is supposed to be understanding...

SAY A LITTLE PRAYER

Image
Not everyone is disciplined enough to say their morning prayer and I am not excluded. Some of us check twitter first thing in the morning, some reach for the refridgerator to grab a bite and some call their heart throbs. We are not trying to condemn the first thing you do when you wake up, but you might want to consider this offer. I'd like to know the number one thig on your morning routine so kindly leave them in the comment box after enjoying this short piece. ******************************************************************************** I woke up on my bed, perspiring like I had been walking on a thread, with memories of the previous day constituting the nightmares that kept flashing through my memory like lightning; grumbling and rumbling from my deep subconscious like thunder. It had not all gone as I quite expeceted after all I had invested. The smile I woke up with didn't waste much time in contorting into a frown as I thought about what the day might be like. Quick...

CUT IT SHORT

From my faint knowledge of business studies, i remember something called shorthand. It is a form of writing that has some special notations and signs that makes writing so short once properly mastered. I guess it was invented for stenographers that have to scribble three thousand words in three minutes! Jeez, that was a little exaggerated, but it was a make-shift writing style that is to be converted later to conventional longhand. It is very formal and recognised. There is however another form of shorthand that has gained so much ground in a very short while. It has got appeal, very stylish, witty and can be found in the informal setting of young people around the world. It's got so much acclaim that even the older ones donot want to be left behind. I might have to switch to it once in a while during the course of this write up. I suspect my hands  might get weary from typing long words. I stand to be corrected, but i think i started with the advent of internet and...
